Tumeric Fried Chicken Indonesian Style

The color and shine of the oil covering this tasty yellow fried chicken is incredible. You will never be disappointed with this dish for sure. If you are completely new to cooking alias NEWBIE. This could be a good starting test point for you to cook. The process of creating this dish is pretty simple and you just need the skill to fry. That's all. Let's get started with the basic ingredients of this tasty turmeric fried chicken Indonesian style.

Serves: 3 - 5 people
Prepartion: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients
  • One whole chicken (1.2 kg), wash and cut into smaller pieces for faster cooking
  • One teaspoon of salt to taste
  • A half teaspoon of white pepper to taste
  • Oil for cooking approx 5-6 tablespoons. We do not deep fried the chicken. Only shallow fry.
  • 10 - 12 pieces of fresh turmeric (about 150 - 200 grams)

Prepare the marinate sauce:

  • Wash and clean the fresh turmeric skin. No need to peel the turmeric skins.
  • Crush and grind the turmeric into small bits. 
  • In a large bowl, Mix all the cut chicken with crushed turmeric, salt, and white pepper.
  • Marinate the chicken for at least 4 hours in the refrigerator.
Method of Cooking

Prepare the marinate sauce:

  • Wash and clean the fresh turmeric skin. No need to peel the turmeric skins.
  • Crush and grind the turmeric into small bits. 
  • In a large bowl, Mix all the cut chicken with crushed turmeric, salt, and white pepper.
  • Marinate the chicken for at least 4 hours in the refrigerator.

Cooking Method:

  • Heat the oils and fried the chickens with all the bits pieces of turmeric. Turn to lower medium heat.
  • You may want to fry the chicken in 2 - 3 batches depends on the size of your fry pan.
  • Use tongs to flip the chicken pieces so both sides are cooked.
  • Once the chicken is cooked and turned yellow gold, place the chicken on a plate. I like to add the remaining cooking oil as this is the real tasty taste.

That is all and your turmeric fried chicken is ready ;-)

Note

When mixing the chicken pieces with the marinated sauces, make sure there is no water or blood left over from the cut chickens. Dry them with a dry towel if needed. When fried the chicken do not use too much oil, only do a shallow fry. You may want to add extra salt and pepper if needed. If you only want to cook half chicken, you just need to reduce all the ingredients parts into half.
